About

MeJust another geek with his own piece of the Internet and something to say.

There’s a certain bit of enthusiasm I exert when it comes to geeky things. I’m sure my friends are aware of this; in fact, I believe it has reached the point to where my friends are almost desensitized to it. Whenever I come across a particular movie, TV series, book, or any other media that interest me, I get really excited — I mean really excited. I want to tell everyone I know about it. Why? Because I want my friends to participate and share with me the same enjoyment I have for such things. Sadly, these days anything I recommend to my friends usually falls to deaf ears; it has even come to the point where my friends will not even give it a fair shake. It’s sad and extremely frustrating at the same time.

I’ll admit. Part of the problem is my fault. I tend to get overly enthusiastic about certain things and I can see how that can generate a Boy Who Cried Wolf effect. Perhaps comparing it to the The Boy Who Cried Wolf is a bit over simplistic. Instead, I’d like to offer a more granular analogy. It is like a hooker on Hollywood Boulevard trying to solicit sex to feed her crack addiction but no Johns would touch her because they know she has a venereal disease. Yeah. Try to make some sense out of that analogy. It sounded better in my head.

I’ll be the first one to honor the “To each his own” saying. If it’s not your particular cup of tea, it’s cool. I get it. But at least give it a chance. Take a sip of the tea! Give the hooker a chance!

Don’t get me wrong. I love my friends to death, and just because they aren’t particularly aligned in my interest doesn’t mean I would ostracize them. But I really need to find a set of people with similar interest. People who aren’t afraid to pick up a 20 sided di and throw down some D&D. People who are willing to watch season 1 of Battlestar Galactica, the Rambo trilogy, Jdrama or the Totally Rad Show with me. People who I can just sit back and chat with about the things I enjoy in this life.

  1. Uh, crack whore? wtf? I wouldn’t want to give them a chance - hell, a new study revealed that 1 in 4 (!) teen girls has an STD. I guess because you know she has one makes it better than having a girlfriend that does but you don’t know until its too late… Wierd analogy though - unorthodox, but still somewhat effective. :D

  2. Who was the one who met you during one of your geeky activities (WoW)? Thal. Who was the one who wanted to honor you with a position in guild high officer, just before you quit? Thal. Who, just today, recognizing your extreme talent in this field, asked you for advice regarding the PS3, but then totally, respectfully disregarded your advice and bought one anyways? Thal. That’s who. I’m always here for your geeky side, man. And I know exactly what you’re talkin’ about when it comes to this, my friends are the same way.

  3. ^^ I read about the study as well. Some of them even admitted to not have sex, haha. I found that a bit odd. Definitely a weird analogy. I’m done for some D&D, we going to dress up and stuff too?
