For those of you that are unaware of Filipino party protocol section Lumpia chapter 8 subsection 2, let me fill you in. It states:
when leaving a Filipino party, you are required to take home food that is usually pilled onto a plastic plate to it’s manufacture suggested weight capacity and wrapped in either tin foil or saran wrap.
Failure to do so results in disrespect and dishonor to all the party planners, attendees, celebrants and all their respective ancestors. It is punishable by palo by sinturon.
Last weekend I had the chance to finally meet my niece, Alliana, for her 1st birffday. Twas a fun event, and it was great being reacquainted with my family from San Diego. Afterwards I thought to myself, “Who am I to go against Filipino party protocol?”, so I loaded up on three plates. Though I’d like to believe I was just not being rude and observing culture, I took the survivability approach instead. I have no food in my apartment.
