Good ol’ bell tower.

I am going to miss the general openess of people, the way people are just willing to talk to you despite who you are, the noon chimes of the bell tower, the way Bourns College of Engineering looks at night, referring to numbers and functions as symbols in the Greek alphabet, those TAs that “got your back”, going to the arcade at the Commons and seeing familiar faces, getting owned in Tekken at the arcade at the Commons, watching Ivan getting owned at the arcade at the Commons, receiving those glossy fliers from the fraternities and using them as sharp projectiles of death, pasta from Mamma Mia’s, by pasing the school’s print queues with my 1337 hax0r skillz, evaluation days that make class just a little bit shorter, the passageway in between Watkins and Rivera Library that is under the trees, having wireless Internet almost everywhere, using the school’s incredibly fast Internet speed to download, going to the CS computer labs and trying to guess which workstations are on the network, professors who have lessons about life and not just about the subject matter, seeing the same familiar faces with me in my CS classes, that one guy who passes out green Bibles every year, that one guy who sits down at the base of the bell tower with his turntable and creates mad beats, the prophet who comes by every year yelling we are all going to Hell, the evolutionist who argue with the prophet, the way the trees blossom in the Spring, that one lady who works at the commons that makes my sushi, my friends.

To my fair Alma Matter, the school who nourished me with knowledge and gave me a chance when many others did not, this is my good bye and thanks.
Hail fair UCR!
